Springtime Vintage Quilt Card

For quite awhile I have wanted to make cards inspired by some of my favorite quilt blocks.  Like everyone else I get so busy with other projects that the things I REALLY want to make kind of fall by the wayside.    About a week or so ago a tutorial on the Splitcoaststamper website finally inspired and motivated me to create the card I'm posting today.

The Splitcoaststampers newsletter profiled a quilted card and tutorial made by a talented Stampin' Up! demonstrator Jenna Barber.  Jenna lives here in my own great state of Ohio.  Jenna made her card with  the new Springtime Vintage DSP by Stampin' Up! . It's a beautiful card but equally as beautiful was the story behind the quilt. On Jenna's blog she told the story of how the quilt was inspired by her mom and a great family vacation to Marthas Vineyard. You can view Jenna's tutorial Here.  From that page you can also follow links to her own blog to read her story.

I love all the colors that coordinate with Springtime Vintage DSP and normally I use pink for everything. This time I stepped outside my creative comfort zone and tried to play off he blue's.  Well it's not too far from my comfort zone since Baja Blue and Not Quite Navy are in my top 5 of colors from Stampin' Up! (preceded by pinks of course).

I made some other changes to my quilt by adding an applique look border, adding texture to the solids by embossing specific parts of the Antique Wallpaper embossing folder and by setting my "sentiment" on a Blue Ribbon.
Hope you enjoy what I've made!

  1. WOW! This is absolutely gorgeous, Peg! I was a quilter for 25 years, so I'll have to give this form of quilting a try. Thanks for sharing your beautiful card. (saw your post on SUDSOL)

  2. It's gorgeous! As a quilter I jumped and made a set of cards like Jenna's. Now I will have to step it up a level or two and add my own embellishments!
